The Legion is modelled on the Roman Legion, hence Latin is used for organizational names. Our “Presidium” is “Our Lady of LaLeche” (milk). We welcome men and women to deepen their spiritual life through prayer and acts of mercy. We pray the “Catena” (based on the Magnificat) daily, and meet Friday mornings for 1 ½-2 hrs. for spiritual readings, Rosary, and confidential sharing of charitable works. These include bringing Communion to those in nursing homes and shut-ins, helping at the food bank, praying the Rosary at funerals, ministering to inmates at the jail, and distributing Rosaries, miraculous medals, and holy water. (Some of these have been suspended during the current restrictions) We strive to share God’s love with the lonely, vulnerable, and forgotten. You are welcome to visit, come for support, and/or join us. “The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members, developed by prayer and active cooperation in Mary’s and the Church’s work.” “Legionaries seek to have the person of Our Lord once again seen and served by Mary, His mother.” Spiritual Works of MercyCorporal Works of Mercy To instruct the ignorant; share the faith To feed the hungry To counsel the doubtful To give water to the thirsty To bear wrongs patiently To clothe the naked To forgive offenses willingly To shelter the homeless To comfort the afflicted To visit the sick To pray for the living and the dead To visit the imprisoned To bury the dead The Legion is an international organization, divided into smaller chapters.
