Agnus Dei
Entrusted by God to be the primary educators of their children,
many families choose to home school.  The Agnus Dei home school group
meets at 10 a.m. on the first Friday of each month in the basement of the
parish office building.  The meetings consist of devotions, lessons and crafts
for the younger kids and a service activity for the older ones, followed by
a shared meal.  The students look forward to spending time with their
fellow Catholic home schoolers and the adults to sharing the joys,
stresses, and insights that come with it. In addition, the group organizes
field trips to places of interest to Catholics, such as the Fathers of
Mercy, Hugh Rogan’s Cabin, and the proto cathedral. Whether you
are curious about it or are already home schooling, contact
Nora Cannon at dcannon – at – nctc.com (replace the “– at – “
with @ when e-mailing) to join the e-mail discussion list.

Altar Society
The Altar Society is a branch of the Legion of Mary, and while not
sacristans, at SJV its volunteers care for the sanctuary. Everything they clean,
sew, wash and polish speaks of love, and they consider this speech as one way
to contemplatively speak to the world. Contact: Jeanette McCord 822.1527

Chapel of Intentions
In partnership with Our Lady of the Lake and St. Joseph's parishes, we bring you a chapel of intentions where you can submit your prayer request to a prayer community that undertakes to intercede for all who ask for their prayers, or become an intercessor for those who ask for prayer.
Add a prayer, or for a more direct, personal connection to our parish, see the SJV Prayer Team or St. Martha's Guild (below).

Choir
The choir at St. John Vianney consists of about fifteen very dedicated singers who practice from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday night and sing at the 10:30 Mass every Sunday through the choral season. The choral season runs from the Sunday after Labor Day through Corpus Christi.  Most of our choral repertory and much of the congregational singing at 10:30 is sung a Capella.  While most of the Liturgy at SJV is in English, we also sing some music in Latin, Greek and Russian, and our music literature spans every age of Church music from Gregorian Chant to Duruflé, and now music of the twenty-first century.  For more information contact choirmaster Stuart Kelly at 452.0594.

Funtimers
If you're retired and 55 or over, this is how you stay connected. You don't want to miss getting together with the Funtimers! Whether it's a road trip to the Space Museum in Huntsville, the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, or cruising the Cumberland, the members of this ministry are on the move. This year local historic sites and lunch are on the agenda. September through June, Funtimers meet at noon the 3rd Tuesday of every month in the basement of the office building for a potluck and bingo, a movie, Bunko, or just to socialize with one another. Don't let a lack of cooking skills keep you away! There's always enough food for anyone who wants to drop in. Contact: Ann Neville 452.9241

Girl Scouts
Troop 3056 welcomes girls from all age levels of scouting.  The troop meets from 3:30 to 5 pm on the first and third Wednesdays of the month in the school building.  In addition to the fun that scouting always brings to a girl's life, our troop is actively involved in the Catholic Committee on Scouting activities.  Cookie sales coming after Christmas!

Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus, Council 10010, meet the first Wednesday night of every month in the lower level of the Parish Center. The Knights of Columbus were officially chartered on March 29, 1882 as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. Throughout its history, the Knights of Columbus has been an effective advocate and defender of civil and religious rights for all. The organization has also contributed billions of dollars and millions of hours of volunteer service to charity. Annual fund raising events hosted locally provided the funds to build three homes for mentally challenged adults, and make contributions to Special Education Programs in local schools, Gallatin Cares, Home Safe, Crisis Pregnancy Center, and Habitat for Humanity. The Bishop Choby Annual Dinner helps fund scholarships for SJV school. Additional funds are used to support our clergy, nuns, and seminarians. There is a place in the Knights of Columbus for every qualified man, whether he has a huge amount of time to volunteer or only a couple hours a week. Along with St. Martha's Guild, they are the loving presence of Christ for the parish in times of need and difficulty. Contact Joe or Linda Fertitta at 822.6735 to submit a prayer request.

St. Martha’s Guild
In the spirit of St. Martha, who fed and served the Lord, St. Martha's Guild provides meals and cards for parishioners in need due to illness, crisis, or death in the family. The Guild also assists with receptions and celebrations relating to PREP. To report a need or help minister to the parish, contact Jennifer Rodgers at 672-2127.
