registered families through more than 20 ministries and committees, and an excellent
religious education program for adults and children. If you are not already a member of

Day Retreat on Lectio Divina, The Better Part, Saturday, May 12, beginning with Mass at 8:00 a.m. Session I will be an explanation of what Lectio Divina is and how to do it. Session 2 will be a teaching about the Ignatius Exercises with Deacon Jayd Neely. Registration is $8.00 and includes materials and lunch. Please pay at the church office or placed in the offering basket in a clearly marked envelope. We will happily accept payment at the door for those who require neither childcare or lunch. There will be a Graduation Mass for the eighth graders at SJV School this Friday, May 18, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and share in the celebration. |

Registration for Totus Tuus will be Sunday, May 13, 2012. The cost is $20.00. This religious education program will be held June 16 through June 22 for the young people of the parish. Grade School meetings will be held Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Youth programs will be held Sunday through Thursday from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. This has been a popular program every year! |

Parish Announcements... St. John Vianney School presents Cinderella and the Substitute Godmother, Friday, May 11, at 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, May 12, at 1:00 p.m. St. John Vianney Social Hall. Admission is free: however, donations will be collected to offset the cost of production. In celebration of Mothers Day, the Legion of Mary will serve Doughnuts in the Courtyard on Sunday, May 13, following each Mass. There will be a drawing for two bouquets and scapulars will be available for those who would like to have one. The next St. Marthas Guild meeting will be Tuesday, May 15, at 7:00 p.m., in the parish office building. All ladies are invited to attend. If you need childcare, contact Mary Garretson at 838-8016. This year the eighth grade students in both the Religious Education program and the Parish School will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Cathedral on Wednesday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m. This Sacrament strengthens them for the witness they will give to the world in regard to their Christian faith. Come and join them on this very important occasion in their lives. It is important that they know the whole Catholic community supports them in the lifelong endeavor to be faithful bearers of the Gospel. The Funtimers will have a potluck luncheon on Tuesday, May 22, at 12:00 noon in the parish office basement. All men and women age 55 and older are invited to attend. On Wednesday, May 23, at 11:00 a.m. Bishop David Choby celebrate an Ordination Mass for Terry McGowan as a Deacon of the Catholic Church here at St. John Vianney Parish. Everyone is welcome to attend and even encouraged to come. Terry has served as a seminarian in this parish at various times, including this past Holy Week. He will be ordained next year as a priest. Everyone who attends is invited to the luncheon following the ordination. Fr. Gideon's Bible Study meets Monday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the parish office building. They are studying the First Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians. First Friday Stations of the Cross - Stations of the Cross will be held in the old church on the first Friday of each month, beginning Friday, May 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Legion of Mary meets each Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the parish office building. If you know of any parishioner in the hospital, or confined to home care, please contact the church office. The Legion desires to serve the sick or the shut in with regular visitation and Holy Communion. The Prayer Team asks that you and remember and intercede for the following: Bishop David Choby, Family of Agnes Hilmes, Arnold Souza, Nora Cannon, Robert Carper, Jennifer Rodgers, Jack Reiger, Barry Boston, Fr. Bill Bevington, Marie Sarro, Charles Brockman, Paul Heinemann, Thelma Lee, Bernice Boles, Cheryl McDonough, Jerry Zimmerle, Beatrice Crockett, Warren Looney, C.L. Gray, Linda Fertitta, Joan Curr, Lucy Krull, Kristi Albert, Sarah Miller, Sara Gideon, Cyndy Zimmerle, Virginia Whiting, Ron Kiser, the People of the Parish, Pope Benedict XVI, and all priests. Reaffirm your devotion to our Blessed Mother and invite the statue of Our Lady of Fatima to visit your home. Contact Joyce Brokaw at 452-9279 to make arrangements. The Legion of Mary meets each Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the parish office building. St. Marthas Guild Food Pantry is available for parishioners in need of food.
